FAQs
If you have any questions, we're always happy to chat, but hopefully we've answered any question you might have here.
Q. What steps do you take to help the environment?
We try our best to be green! All our frames are made from recycled polystyrene, and the bags for our unframed prints are now made from Nativia film (made from corn starch), and are backed with recycled boards. The bookwraps we use to send orders out are from FSC certified forests and being cardboard, can easily be recycled. The tissue paper we use for gift-wrapping is recyclable. At fairs, we wrap prints in corrugated cardboard roll to protect your purchase, and we try to ensure our boutique bags are recyclable.
Q. When will I receive the print I ordered?
We post within 2 working days, using Royal Mail. In the UK, we post First Class Signed For, which should arrive in 1-2 working days, or Parcelforce24 for larger orders (next working day delivery aim). Orders from abroad are posted using Royal Mail International Track & Sign, which aims for 5-7 working days to deliver, depending where in the World you are.
This can all take longer near Christmas, but if you haven't received your print after, say, 5 working days in the UK, please get in touch via email or the contact page. The parcels are tracked, so we can tell if the postie has been, found no-one home but forgotten to leave a card,, or perhaps the dog ate it!
Either way, please don't leave it 2 weeks, as by then the Royal Mail send it back to us!

Q. When will you reply to my enquiry?
We do try to reply to all communications within 24 hours, but sometimes life just gets in the way. If in doubt, blame my Director of Stuff!. However we have found that some of our emails to you do end up in your spam folders - even replies to emails you've sent - so it's always worth checking there first if you haven't heard back from us.
Q. Why is there only a 'pay by PayPal' on Folksy? I don't have Paypal.
Our Folksy shop is based on Paypal payments, but should allow you to pay by card as a guest. Please just take the Paypal option on the 'Your basket' screen and look under the Paypal sign-in screen for 'Pay as a guest' or 'Confirm a different way'. This should offer the option to pay by card as a guest (in tiny writing right at the bottom!)
However, we are aware that this doesn't always seem to appear on Paypal's screen, so if you go back to 'Your Basket' screen, right at the bottom it says 'If you are unable to pay using Folksy or Paypal, click here to fill in this form', this will let us know what you'd like to order and where you'd like it sent, and we can exchange emails to arrange an alternate method of payment (eg online transfer or by card over the phone). Again, if you don't hear from us within 24 hours, please check your spam folder.
Much easier though, is that we do also now have an Etsy shop, here, which uses card payments and you can order as a guest (which we do from Etsy regularly!) without having to sign up for anything.

Q. Where do I enter a discount code you gave me?
On Folksy, the discount code field is on the 'Your basket' screen, just above the picture of the item you're buying..
On Etsy, in your basket page, there's a note saying 'Apply shop coupon codes'. Please just click on this, enter your code, and click 'Apply'.

Q. I live abroad and/or want to post abroad. Can you do this?
Good news - our Folksy shop has just been updated to be able to take orders from and post abroad!
Please note that although all our A3 framed and unframed options, and unframed A2s are available, we can only post our large framed A2 prints to UK addresses due to the excessive cost of posting them abroad. If you'd like an A2, please just order the A2 unframed and buy an A2 frame of your choice wherever you live.
Our Etsy shop also takes orders from and posts around the world (from Azerbaijan to New Zealand so far!). You can either search artistsusiewest on Etsy, or find the shop here.

Q. Where else can I buy your prints?
We sell at various fairs each weekend and in various 'real world' shops - please see the 'News, etc' pages to see our calendar and shops we're currently in. (It's always worth calling ahead if visiting any of the shops as they all carry limited ranges of our prints.)
We sell through Folksy and Etsy online. We do not sell through any other websites. (We're aware of some strange sites out there that seem to grab information from various online sellers to create a 'shop' full of mixed items - please avoid these!)

Q. Have you painted my town yet?
All my current prints are listed on our website. My social media (particularly Instagram) will give you clues as to what may be coming next...
Q. Can you paint my town, please?
How I work is that I take votes for where to paint next. When I finish a painting, we look back at the list of votes to see what's next most popular, and that's where we head. As it takes me about a week to paint an image, and it is quite a long list, I'm afraid I can't guarantee when I might get round to painting somewhere! But please do vote via the contact page - your votes really do make a difference! - and feel free to vote for as many lovely places as you like. :)
Q. Do you do commissions?
If what you're after is an original painting of a place that would fit in with my series of travel posters, it may already be on my list, or could be moved up if you'd like to buy the original. There are times of the year when I have a little more time to fit in commissions, so do please get in touch.
Q. How big are your prints?
Our prints are either A3 or A2.
A3 is 297x420mm. A2 is twice the size of A3, at 420x594mm. Our black A3 and shabby chic white A3 frames are slightly different sizes when including the frame. The black frames are 330x453mm, and the white 338x460mm.. The A2 frame is 450x625m. Please note that all measurements are approximate. |
Q. Do you do different sizes of prints?
We do all our own printing, and at the moment we only do A3 and A2 prints. I tend to paint at around A2 size, so we wouldn't be able to go bigger than that anyway, (although commissions can be larger), but the cost of having more than the two sizes in stock, including paper, frames, etc, means we're not currently planning to do any smaller sizes, I'm afraid.
Q. Are the framed prints ready to hang?
Yes! All framed prints come with a hanging bracket on the back which will allow you to hang your print straightaway from a picture hook or nail in the wall.
Again, if you still have any questions, do please get in touch.
